Oakleaf were commissioned in 2017 to undertake a detailed review of the Trust’s room database to appraise the suitability of their ward accommodation against key NHS design guidance. Using Health Building Notes 04-01 Oakleaf created a pro-forma to appraise the as-built accommodation looking at both bed bay sizing and the availability of key ward facilities (Treatment Rooms, dirty utilities). This review enable the trust to report on potential shortfalls in both key facilities and the extra m2 areas that would potentially be required to accommodate.
Alongside the HBN review Oakleaf looked at the Clinical and Non-Clinical usage of the estate to enable the Trust to meet their ERIC reporting obligations particularly in light of the 2016/17 Carter Review definitions.
