Project Background

The Oakleaf Group have been at the forefront of the EPBD Legislation, providing DECs since their requirement for public buildings over 1000m2 in October 2008. Our first major DEC project was with West Berkshire Council, where we were commissioned to produce DECs and advisory reports for over sixty of their compliant properties. The buildings primarily comprised primary and secondary schools but also included the council’s main corporate buildings, including the county hall.

The success of the project was very much dependant upon continued good communication with key council contacts and the main contacts at each of the buildings requiring certification. The need to retrieve appropriate energy consumption data from each individual site or building proved challenging but did not effect the overall successful completion of the project. The experience gained from this project has been invaluable and has contributed to our continued success in the field of energy certificates and energy assessments.

The success of the initial project has resulted in an on-going working relationship with the council, annually producing their DECs.
