Project Background

Undertaken within a short 6-week timeframe Oakleaf undertook a full block level survey of the complicated ‘Best-Buy’ West Suffolk Hospital. Best Buy Hospitals are a best value hospital design conceived in the 1960s to use simple construction methods to provide affordable accommodation using primarily prefabricated components. Various defects have been identified with the Best Buy approach particularly relating to prefabricated concrete external walls and roof decking with Oakleaf closely liaising with estates staff to identify and allocate realistic cost profiles for the 5 year planned maintenance.

Oakleaf also completed a technical audit of the trust’s statutory documentation and policies and procedures to ensure all related backlog costs were included within the planned maintenance schedule.
